Nick From The Adversaries/FiveNineties

PRR: What are the main differences between playing guitar in The Adversaries and drums in fivenineties other than the instrument change?
Nick: ooh...i don't really have as much control. i mean, i do get a say in stuff and i write some songs, but for the most part i just hit stuff really hard and really fast and don't think too much.
PRR: How does it feel for the fiveninties to finally be playing a show somewhere other than a basement? No offense.
Nick: it feels good. finnally more than just whitney and amanda will hear our music. but is the world ready for the fivenineties? that i'm not sure of. i don't know if people still like pop punk bands.
PRR: By pop/punk you mean stuff more like Jawbreaker, Screeching Weasel, and the Descendents than the modern shitty pop/punk I assume?
Nick: word. Screeching Weasel is probably our biggest influence right now. the queers too
PRR: Cool as shit. So, what can we expect from The Adversaries and fiveninties in 2004?
Nick: well, the adversaries are currently working on new songs. we've got crapload of catchy new songs. plus, we're working with this kid who might be playing keyboards for us. that's gonna be really cool. we'll probably record some new stuff soon too. um...fiveninties, we'll get REAL shows and prolly make a cd sometime in the near future.
PRR: What do you prefer singing and playing guitar or hitting things hard and not thinking much or for the musical geeks playing drums?
Nick: hmm...well, i enjoy singing and playing guitar a lot, dancing and jumping around. but drums are fun too. i'd say it's about equal.
PRR: So, if we were to look at your CD collection today what is in there that wouldn't have been say three years ago?
Nick: all kinds of crap. my taste in music has really changed over the past three years
PRR: Would you honor us with some examples?
Nick: ah...jeez. weezer. i was never a big fan of them till this year. i love pinkerton. dinosaur jr. fugazi. me without you. pain, i dunno, there's probably more
PRR: Outkast?
Nick: i like some outkast
PRR: Cool, what are you thoughts on bands like Rancid and AFI signing to larger labels, is it about the money or about getting your music out to more people?
Nick: i'm not really sure. i don't care what they do or what reason they have. if they wanna sign to a major label, let them. i don't know why kids have to bitch about it. honestly, i don't give a fuck.
PRR: What are your thoughts on the current state of children's cartoons today compared to when we were 6 or 7?
Nick: childrens cartoons? i dunno. i like some. what do you consider childrens cartoons?
PRR: GI Joe, Transformers vs stuff like Pokemon and what not
Nick: ah...um, not sure. i like pokemon. and samurai jack kicks ass. and i love teen titans too. basically, if it's on cartoon network it's awesome.
PRR: True that, what do you think of the local music scene both the bands and the fans?
Nick: hmm...that's tough. i can't say. sometimes it's great and sometimes it not. our scene is lacking a bit. but it's pretty good, i supose.
PRR: Alright, you have the chance to put any three bands on stage with you at a show local or big time who do you pick and why?
Nick: surviving monday. because they rock my pants off. um...that's it. them x3. I'd say twice told tale but i think they are no more
PRR: I can find out Tuesday
Nick: hmm..okay then
PRR: This one is for the ladies who visit my site, are you single and what do you look for in a girl if you are?
Nick: nope, I've got an awesome girlfriend.
PRR: sorry ladies I tried, I saw you mentioned the addition of a keyboard player, any chance you can leak a name and possible debut date of this keyboardist?
Nick: Tony, and i have no idea
PRR: cool, Any bands you hope to see on Warped Tour this year?
Nick: vandals. they haven't done it for like three years. i want them back. I think they are doing part of it

Nick: yeah, but are they coming around here?
PRR: I'm not sure, I will get back to you sometime soon, Do you think bands who take a political stance are obligated to stand by that stance in their actions?
Nick: i would suppose. you can't just go complaining about something and not do anything about it.
PRR: Do you feel The Adversaries or FiveNineties are "political bands"?
Nick: no way. we're not very political. sometimes we can be, but most of the time we're not.
PRR: Last question, if you could kill anyone on the Earth and get away with it who would it be and why?
Nick: ...the man
PRR: And that my friends is the end of Nick's interview Good Night America
